Congratulations to the 2026 American Public Health Association (APHA)’s Occupational Health Section’s (OHS) Alice Hamilton Award for Lifetime Achievement award winners!
It was awarded to Katherine Kirkland, DrPH. Dr. Kirkland’s life work exemplifies the ideals of the Alice Hamilton Award. Over 26 years, she led us at the Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics (AOEC)) as executive director in expanding its membership, strengthening its programs, and advancing occupational and environmental health for workers and communities. Dr. Kirkland is a dedicated member of the APHA Occupational Health and Safety Section, serving as chair in 2013–2014.
And Mitchel Rosen, PhD, MS who has dedicated his career to advancing worker health and safety through service, partnership, and mentorship. As Director of the Center for Public Health Workforce Development at Rutgers School of Public Health since 1999, he has built and led programs that have trained hundreds of thousands of workers, responders, public health professionals, and community leaders to address emerging public health challenges.

International Safety Center Posts Long-Awaited 2024 EPINet Data, Announces its Closing, and Transition to AOEC
July 10, 2025 – The International Safety Center (ISC) convened its Board of Directors to review the 2024 annual Exposure Prevention Information Network (EPINet®) data, complied from US healthcare facilities on injuries from needlesticks, contaminated sharps, and mucocutaneous occupational exposures to bloodborne and infectious disease (e.g., HIV, HCV, influenza, COVID-19). The Center has been collecting this kind of surveillance data since the mid-1990s and reports it publicly every year.
